Pilot Officer Donald Claude Campbell was a pilot with 440 Squadron. He was noted in the 440 Squadron Daily Diaries on April 30, 1944.
He enlisted in 1942 with flight training in 1943. He was with 111 Sqn in Canada since Oct 1943, crossing the Atlantic with them in January 1944. First (recorded) Typhoon Op on 26 April 1944 and his last Op on 31 August 1944. 111 Sqn website mentions he crash landed in early September but no confirmation of date, circumstances or aircraft serial. He disappears from squadron records after 31 August. 111 Sqn website also mentions he was repatriated for convalescence.
